7th for Howell at Antalya Grand Slam

On the second day of the Antalya Grand Slam, Gemma Howell (Wolverhampton JC; Bill Kelly) recorded a 7thplace finish to add to her 5th place finish at the Tbilisi Grand Slam last weekend.
Drawn in Pool A, Howell recorded ippon score victories against Hannah Martin (USA) and Andreja Leski (SLO) to progress to the quarter-finals where she faced number 1 seed, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard (CAN).
Defeat in Golden Score saw Howell progress to the Repechage where she was defeated by Barbara Timo (POR) resulting in a 7th place final placing.
In the -70kg category, Jemima Yeats-Brown (Ryecroft Judokwai; Ian Oliver) also came up against the number one seed. After defeating Anastassiya Mayakova (KAZ) in Round 2, following an opening round bye, Yeats-Brown was defeated in Round 3 by world number 1, Barbara Matic (CRO).
Also in the -70kg category, Kelly Petersen-Pollard (Hardy Spicer; Fitzroy Davies) defeated Roza Nyssantaikyzy (KAZ) before suffering a round two defeat to World Championship bronze medallist, Saki Niizoe (JPN).
Eric Ham (Glossop JC; Geoff Ham) defeated Askarbek Ishenbaev (KGZ) in the opening round, before defeat to 3rd seed Arthur Margelidon (CAN).
In the -81kg category, Lachlan Moorhead (Sheffield JC: Matt Moorhead) overcame Tomas Morales (ARG) in the opening round before a second round defeat to Bolor-Ochir Gereltuya (MGL).
Tomorrow sees three GB judoka in action, with the Preliminary Rounds starting at 6:30am (GMT).
