Redbridge Judo Club to Host First DISE Open Day Next Week

British Judo has launched a bespoke Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DISE) running from six Performance Pathway Centres within England targeted at aspiring judoka aged 16-18.

The Diploma will offer the opportunity for players to increase their weekly training volume while working towards a vocational qualification that is now recognised by UCAS. DISE is designed to support and complement a player’s club and area training.

Players must be a minimum of 16 years of age with English & Maths GCSE’s (C minimum) to qualify for the course. Those without the required grades may be considered if they opt in to resit the exams or complete Key Skills certificates. Students ideally must be a minimum orange belt in judo, although there is room for discussion around gradings.

The British Judo DISE programme is a key part of the British Judo Performance Pathway and technical & physical delivery will soon be linked to the British Judo Trademark model.

There will be an Open Sign Up Day to be held at the British Judo Centre of Excellence, University of Wolverhampton (Walsall Campus) on 29th August 9.30am – 4.00pm
