Coimbra gold for Jodie Caller

Jodie Caller took home memorable gold medal at the 2018 European University Games in Coimbra on Tuesday 24 July.
The University of Wolverhampton judoka was in outstanding form at -57kg from the start as she beat Julia Perez Iglesias (ESP) by ippon.
She followed that up with hard fought wins over Emeline Velot (FRA) and Mathilde Briant (FRA) to secure her passage to the final, both contests by waza-ari.
Matia Herrero Zapiain (ESP) was her opponent for gold but it ultimately proved to be a one-sided final with Caller throwing her Zapiain for ippon inside the opening minute to the delight of the rest of the GB team.
