Winton Arts and Media College host Olympic Flame Celebration Event
July 19, 2012
On Thursday the 12th and Friday the 13th of July the Olympic Torch was carried through Dorset to arrive down in Bournemouth. Although the weather was inclement to say the very least large crowds massed to witness the Olympic Flame on its journey through village and hamlet.
The smiles on the faces and noise generated by all those watching brightened up what was a damp and dismal day in Dorchester as the Olympic Flame passed through to Portland and Weymouth were it rested over night before continuing on its journey Bournemouth the very next day.
In anticipation and celebration of the Torches arrival in Bournemouth a number of community events were delivered one of which being a full day of fun sporting activities at Winton Arts and Media College.
A large number of students enjoyed the opportunity of being introduced to the Olympic Sport of Judo through the support of Peter Anderson (lead coach) at Nokemono Judokwai and his team of coaches. Peter Anderson also invited all those students who participated to attend a free training session at their club which delivers Judo sessions at the Sir David English Sports centre in Bournemouth (See link for details). http://www.nokemono-judo.co.uk/
