Father and daughter officiate at World Police and Fire Games

A father and daughter, involved in various activities with Coleraine Judo Club officiated at the World Police and Fire Games recently.
The event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers comprised of players from over 30 countries, including the UK and Ireland.
Club Secretary and Welfare Officer Peter Cuckoo joined his daughter Rebecca, 19, a BJA 1st Dan and Level 1 coach to serve as table officials throughout the two-day event at Shankill Leisure Centre.
While Peter has never competed at judo, he is father to three Coleraine club members. Rebecca, as well as being a judoka is a second year bio-medical student at the University of Ulster.
Richard Briggs, NI Judo Federation’s President and Coleraine’s head coach, assisted with medal presentations.
Northern Ireland’s only gold medal was in the 100kg category by 5th Dan Mark Montgomery, a member of the Fire Service and a Commonwealth Games hopeful.
