July 20, 2015
Lisburn based Hazama Judo Club recently received a £10,000 grant from SportNI to help the club increase its membership of Special Needs, Ethnic Minority Groups, Cross Community and Female participants.
The club have been working in partnership with a local School and have delivered free judo classes to over 1200 children last month.
Coaches from the club recently attended a tailored Special Needs coach education course [link to article] which will help them deliver effective and enjoyable sessions.
Hazama Judo Club’s Head Coach Mark Montgomery was grateful for SportNI’s support: “Thanks to the support of SportNI’s Active Awards for Sport Lottery Grant, our club now has the opportunity to grow our base at grass roots level.
“This will help us increase the delivery of Judo to children from Cross Community Backgrounds, Etnic Minorities, Females and Children with Special Needs.
“It will also give us the opportunity to identify more future champions in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Area.
“I would like to thank SportNI for their support and the NIJF Club Development Officer Scott Mayne, who’s input was instrumental in the design and delivery of our ‘Get to Grips’ Initiative”, Mark added.
