Madrid test for British judoka

A 14 strong British Judo team will be stepping on the mat this weekend at the 2016 Madrid European Open on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June.
Gary Hall (-90kg) was on the medal rostrum the last time out in 2014 and he will be hoping to improve on his bronze medal from two years ago.
Max Stewart (-90kg) is another returning judoka from 2014 having finished seventh when he competed at -81kg.
Sam Hall (-66kg), Junior European silver medallist, will be hoping to make the step up at senior level this year starting with the competition this weekend while Aaron Turner (-73kg) competes in his first continental open at his new weight.
-63kg sees a strong British entry with 2015 European Under-23 and Junior champions Amy Livesey and Lucy Renshall entered and looking to add more continental open medals to their collection.
2014 Junior European champion Jodie Myers (+78kg) returns from a long injury lay-off this weekend as does Kelly Staddon (-48kg) and both will hoping to hit the ground running in Madrid.

Women: -48 kg, -52 kg, -57 kg, -63 kg Men: -60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg
Sunday
Women: -70 kg, -78 kg, +78 kg Men: -81 kg, -90 kg, -100 kg, +100 kg
The draw will be on ippon.org from 1900 GMT on Friday 3 June with competition starting from 0900 GMT on both days with live coverage on eju.net
