Guayaquil Junior World Championships: The Draw

GB Judo is pleased to announce the draw for the 4 selected judoka for the upcoming IJF World Junior Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador from 10 – 13 August.

Competing on the first day of the competition will be -52kg judoka Tatum Keen. With three European Junior Cup medals in 2022, Keen will be looking to add to her medal tally. She will first face Alya De Carvalho (FRA) in her first-round contest.

On the second day of the competition, all the attention will be focused on Ethan Nairne. After winning a bronze medal in the Coimbra Junior European Cup earlier this year, Nairne will be pushing for another podium position in Ecuador. In his first round contest, the -73kg judoka has been drawn against Kote Kapanadze (GEO)

The third and final day for GB judoka at the World Junior Championships will see two GB juniors taking to the mat. In the women’s -70kg category, Simone Cross who won bronze at the Coimbra Junior European Cup will be up against Brenda Olaya (COL) in her first-round contest.

In the men’s -90kg category, Ryan Rijksen-Salman will be looking to step up his game play after a respectable 5th place at the Athens Junior European Cup in March this year. The 20-year-old has a first-round bye.

Competition coverage starts from 4:30pm (BST) on Wednesday 10th August.
