Wilson finishes 7th on Grand Slam debut in Tashkent

Malin Wilson (Judo Scotland; Javi Delgado) marked her Grand Slam debut with a 7th place finish on the opening day of the Tashkent Grand Slam.

Competing in the -57kg category on Friday in Tashkent, Wilson defeated Farangiz Redjepova (UZB) in Golden Score in the opening round before booking her place in the Quarter-Final with a second-round victory against Suchika Tariyal (IND).
Wilson was defeated by Momo Tamaoki (JPN) in the Quarter-Final but progressed to the Repechage where she was defeated by Pauline Starke (GER) to finish 7th.

Day two in Tashkent saw European Champion Gemma Howell (Wolverhampton JC; Bill Kelly) in action in the -63kg category. Howell defeated Wen Zhang (CHN) in Round Two, following an opening round bye before exiting the competition in Round Three after picking up a third shido against Maylin Del Toro Carvajal (CUB).
