GB Judo Announce Team for European U23 Championships

GB Judo is pleased to announce a team of 7 judoka who have been selected to compete at the European U23 Championships in Potsdam, Germany, from 17th to 19th November.
Charlie Young (Ryecroft Judokwai; Paul Young) and Finlay Allan (Camberley JC; Luke Preston) have been selected in the -66kg category following some impressive European circuit performances.
Young claimed gold at the Rome European Open in March before claiming bronze at the Prague European Open in September. The Dushanbe Grand Prix 7th place finisher, will be making his second European U23 Championship appearance, having made his debut at the championships in 2022.
Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Allan recently claimed bronze at the Malaga European Cup. The Scottish judoka was a silver medallist at the Gaia European Cup after claiming bronze at the Podcetrtek European Cup.
Ethan Nairne (Bradley Stoke; Pete Douglas) and Oliver Short (Edinburgh Judo; Billy Cusack) will compete in the -73kg category.
Nairne, who finished 7th at the 2022 European U23 Championships, has two bronze medal finishes from the Riga and Tallinn European Opens this year. Short also has a bronze medal from the Riga European Cup and recently claimed bronze at the Malaga European Cup.
Oliver Barratt (Dragons Judo Academy; Stephen Abberley) has been selected in the -100kg category. Barratt has bronze medals from the Riga and Gaia European Cups this year and claimed silver at the Sarajevo European Cup in September.
The women’s team is comprised of Tatum Keen (Bradley Stoke; Pete Douglas) and Sian Bobrowska (Hardy Spicer; Fitzroy Davies), who will both compete in the -52kg category.
Keen was bronze medallist at the Riga European Cup and has 7th place finishes at the Madrid and Prague European Opens.
Bobrowska, like Keen, competed at the 2022 European U23 Championships and has a 5th place finish at the Sofia European Open to her name this year.
Archi Shrimpton has also been selected to referee at the Championships
European Junior Championship bronze medallist, Luke Davies (Ealing JC; Jo Crowley) has been named as a reserve for the -73kg category.
