Draw made for European Championships

The European Championships get underway tomorrow in Montpellier, France with 13 GB judoka in action over the next three days.
British Judo has enjoyed great success at these championships over the years with both Chelsie Giles (Coventry Judo Club) and Gemma Howell (Wolverhampton JC; Bill Kelly) both being crowned European Champions in 2022 in Sofia.
Action at the Sud de France Arena gets underway on Friday morning with five GB judoka taking to the tatami.
Friday 3rd November | Preliminary Rounds 10:00am (GMT) | Final Block 15:00
Defending champion, Giles, enters as 3rd seed in the -52kg category. Giles has an opening round bye before facing Maria Siderot (POR) in round two.
Nekoda Davis (Ealing Judo Club; Jo Crowley) and Lele Nairne (Bradley Stoke JC: Pete Douglas) will both compete in the -57kg category. Smythe-Davis has an opening round contest against Seija Ballhaus (GER) whilst Nairne will face Nino Loladza (GEO).
The -66kg category will see Ryecroft Judokwai pair Samuel Hall (Ian Oliver) and Charlie Young (Paul Young) in action. Hall has been drawn to face 4th seed Walide Khyar (FRA) in the opening round, whilst Young will face David Garcia-Torne (ESP).
Saturday 4th November | Preliminary Rounds 10:30am | Final Block 15:00
Jemima Yeats-Brown (Ryecroft Judokwai; Ian Oliver) competes in the -70kg category and will face Ida Eriksson (SWE) in round two, following an opening round bye.
In the -81kg category, Lachlan Moorhead (Penistone JC; Matt Moorhead) will face Theodoros Demourtsidis (GRE) in the opening round. Whilst Eric Ham (Glossop JC; Geoff Ham) has an opening-round contest against Kswert Morka (POL) in the -73kg category.
Sunday 5th November | Preliminary Rounds 10:30am | Final Block 15:00
On the final day, Emma Reid (Redbridge JC; Steve Sandy) will face 4th seed Anna-Maria Wagner (GER) in round two, following an opening round bye.
Jamal Petgrave (Westcroft Judo Club; Andy Ede) and Stuart McWatt (Gairoch JC; Stuart McWatt) will both be in action in the -90kg category. McWatt has been drawn to face Alex Cret (ROU) in the opening round whilst Petgrave will face Sami Chouchi (BEL).
Harry Lovell-Hewitt (Stroud JC; Richard Neale) will face 2nd seed Zelym Kotsoiev (AZE) in the opening round of the -100kg category, whilst in the +100kg category, Wesley Greenidge (Enfield JC; George Hyslop) will face Erik Abramov (GER) in his opening-round contest.
Also, on the tatami representing GB Judo this weekend is Lisa Rivers, who has been selected as part of the refereeing team.
Unfortunately, Rhys Thompson (Enfield JC; George Hyslop), Lucy Renshall (SKK; Pete Blood) and Natalie Powell have withdrawn due to injury, whilst Kelly Petersen-Pollard (Hardy Spicer; Fitzroy Davies) has made the decision to miss the championships as she continues her return from injury.
