IJF ACADEMY (UCJI) PROGRAMME REGISTRATION 2024

Following the success of the IJF Academy course hosted at the British Judo Olympic and Paralympic National Training Centre, we are excited to continue to share IJF Academy development opportunities with our coaches.

In September we saw British Coaching talent completing the IJF Academy Course with World, Olympic and Commonwealth Champions getting involved throughout the duration. The demanding practical sessions pushed all participants to challenge themselves and their partner to develop their technique in a positive learning environment.

The UCJI programme requires students to complete an 18 week online course, with assessments along the way. Subsequently, students can complete the qualification at an IJF Academy practical assessment which take place all over the world. British Judo were proud to host an IJF Academy practical assessment for a second time in 2023, with students from Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Poland, Jamaica and Germany in attendance. IJF Academy experts shared their expertise across the week, offering support to participants where necessary to uphold the high standard of teaching delivered in both practical sessions and the learning process behind the techniques.

The course was very well received by all participants with many sharing their experience through feedback upon completion.

“Good appreciation of a wide range of techniques is essential for high-level refereeing. The UCJI delivers exactly that over an interesting, although quite demanding, it’s a week of technical judo led by experienced and approachable experts. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to sharpen their skills”

Archi Shrimpton, IJF International Referee

“If you want to improve your overall judo knowledge I would highly recommend booking onto this course. The online modules will enhance your understanding of a range of judo topics and the physical week will improve your technical knowledge. Completing this course gave me a huge sense of achievement and I have improved not just as a coach but as a judoka.”

Lisa Rivers, UKCC L3 Coach, IJF World Tour Referee
