Powell takes silver at final Paris qualification event
May 20, 2024
Today (Monday 20 May) marks 100 days to go until the start of the Paralympic Games in Paris and this weekend saw our GB judoka compete in the final qualification event seeking to secure their invitation to compete in Paris.
Daniel Powell claimed silver behind world number 1 Arthur Cavalcante Da Silva (BRA) in the J1 -90kg category.
Evan Molloy and Jack Hodgson recorded 5th place finishes in the J2 -90kg and J2 +90kg categories respectively.
Elsewhere, there were early round exits for Miles Soloman (J2 -73kg) and Kirsten Taylor (J2+70kg) whilst Chris Skelley withdrew from the J2 +90kg category as a precaution having recently returned from injury.
The final IBSA Judo Paralympic Ranking List will be published on the 24th June 2024 which will be used to establish the number of quota places available for the Games. Following the reallocation of slots in July the team will be announced by Paralympic GB later that month.
