World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List Update 2025
November 26, 2024
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has released the 2025 Prohibited List, effective January 1, 2025.
A significant change this year involves inhaled formoterol, commonly used in inhalers for conditions such as asthma. While the total permitted daily dose remains unchanged at 54 micrograms over 24 hours, athletes will only be able to therapeutically inhale up to 36 micrograms of formoterol over any 12-hour period.
A Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) will be necessary for any therapeutic use that exceeds these permitted limits.
To help fighters and parents understand if they need to apply for a TUE, please refer to the following guidelines:
- Fighters submitting their daily whereabouts to UKAD (those in the National Registered Testing Pool and Domestic Testing Pool)
- British Judo World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) Fighters (Olympic and Paralympic)
- British Fighters competing at IJF World Ranking List Events (with the addition of the Junior European Championships)
Athletes in the IJF Registered Testing Pool and/or competing in any IJF event must apply directly to the International Testing Agency (ITA)
If you do not fall into any of the categories listed above, you may apply for a retroactive TUE. More information is available here.
If you take any medication (whether prescription or over-the-counter), we recommend checking Global DRO here to determine if you require a TUE.
It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the 2025 Prohibited List and ensure compliance with anti-doping regulations regarding medications and supplements. Stay informed and proactive to avoid any breaches.
All information and details can be found on the UKAD website.
