Your destination for the latest England Judo news and information

The England Squad program is a development program, which aims to prepare players with the necessary technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle attributes to progress through the GB Pathway onto the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) and achieve success at senior international level.

The key objectives are:
  • TO IDENTIFY young judo players with long term potential
  • TO DEVELOP (both physically and mentally), by using the right training at the right time, taking into consideration the different needs of early and late maturers
  • TO EQUIP these players with the skills, experience and knowledge needed to build a strong foundation for future achievements and long-term success

Training Opportunities:

England Judo Training Opportunities provides fighters with the option to attend 23 weekly sessions at venues across the nation.

The new delivery approach will provide a greater opportunity for England programme fighters, and those aspiring to join the England National Squad, to access a greater number of training and randori sessions to boost their weekly training load in collaboration with their club judo opportunities, further accelerating overall technical and physical development.

Through utilising the existing club network across England, a new approach of training opportunities is aiming to increase access to additional training and importantly, Randori which is the fundamental training unit of Performance Judo. The collaboration of these clubs is critical to the long-term development of GB’s future elite fighters towards future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
