BJA Commonwealth Games Festival of Challenges
May 30, 2022
To celebrate the Commonwealth Games taking place in the West Midlands this summer, The British Judo Association are excited to announce the details of the BJA Commonwealth Games Festival of Challenges.
The festival will take place from the 1st June 2022 until 1st September 2022 and is open to all clubs to join in on the fun!
As part of the festival, there will be a series of challenges which clubs will be able to take part in, with points awarded for every challenge completed, as well as bonus points for competitions held. The aim of the festival is for clubs to collate as many points as possible to be in with a chance of winning some exciting prizes!
Each club that takes part in the festival of challenges will have the opportunity of winning the festival star prize of an GB Judo athlete appearance and masterclass at their club! There are two star prizes up for grabs and these can be won, either by winning the raffle or being the club with the most points at the end of the festival. There will also be spot prizes awarded to clubs throughout the festival including:
- Family tickets for Judo at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games at Coventry Arena
- Pairs of VIP tickets to the 2022 British Judo Annual Awards Dinner
- 10 x Exclusive British Judo t-shirts with your Club name/logo printed
Each session completed by a club acts as an entry to the raffle, a completed session is recorded by sending all necessary paperwork in to events@britishjudo.org.uk. The total points winner is calculated from the points gained at each session, this is calculated by British Judo, once the paperwork is sent in to events@britishjudo.org.uk
There is no limit on the total number of challenges completed, however each club can only complete a maximum of one challenge per day. There is no limit to the number of attendees who can take part in a session – except for the limitations of the space available to train in.

If your club would like to take part in the BJA Commonwealth Games Festival of Challenges, we recommend running your session in the follow format;
Session plan:
- Warm up or main club session
- Commonwealth Games Festival of Challenges (maximum of one challenge can be completed per club per day)
- Club competition (this is optional and must follow level 1 tournament licence guidance)
- Information on running a level 1 event can be found in our Tournament Handbook.
- Please speak to the events team if you have any questions about the requirements for this.
After each session the register list must be sent in to events@britishjudo.org.uk with a photo of the group attendees and a video showing part of the activity in the session. Please ensure you have the permission of the attendees to share these photos and videos as they may be used on social media by British Judo and their partners.
Session Evidence:
After each session the points submission document must be completed and returned to events@britishjudo.org.uk . This must be sent along with a photo of the attendees and a short video of the session. If a competition is completed within the session, the results and pool sheets must be included too.
There will be leader board published on the British Judo website which will be updated in real time as challenges are submitted to the events team. The winners will be announced shortly after the festival closes on 1st September.
Good Luck!
