British Judo Launch Safeguarding Conferences

‘It’s’ their future not ours- how can we support our junior members in keeping safe’

As part of NSPCC’s Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week coming up in October, British Judo are pleased to launch two free upcoming virtual safeguarding conferences covering this year’s theme – “Keeping our junior members safe”.

Running on Tuesday 8th October (6:30pm-8:30pm), we would like to invite Club Welfare Officers from across the Association to join us for our first online conference where we aim to discuss how we continue to build a safeguarding community to keep children and young people safe. Throughout the evening, you will hear from British Judo’s Safeguarding team, our Young People Advisory Group, as well as an introduction to the Lundy Model. The Lundy Model provides a way of conceptualising a child’s right to participation, based on four key concepts of Space, Voice, Audience and Influence.

Taking place on Thursday 10th October (10:00am-1:00pm), we will be hosting our virtual Stakeholders Conference designed for organisations both internal and external to the sport to come together and interact as part of a larger group across a range of current topics and discussion areas. Throughout the session, you will hear from our junior members, our British Judo Young People Advisory Group who will present our current safeguarding model, and we will welcome a number of exciting external speakers including Youth Focus who will present the Lundy Model, Kidscape, and Play Their Way.
