Cluj-Napoca Junior European Cup Round up

Away from the senior World Championships, 6 GB junior judoka competed at the Cluj-Napoca Junior European Cup this weekend.
Competing in the -63kg category Phoebe Digweed finished 5th ahead of teammate Millie Bayliss as both judoka made their Junior European Cup debuts.
Digweed lost her Quarter-Final contest to eventual silver medallist Martyna Glubiak (POL) before victory in the Repechage over Anamaria Suciu (ROU) booked her place in the bronze medal contest, where she was defeated by French judoka Naomi Cabaret.
Bayliss meanwhile was defeated in her Quarter-Final by eventual gold medallist Sara Corbo (ITA) before defeat in the Repechage to bronze medallist Ella Andersson.
After winning his opening round contest, Alexander Rijksen-Salman was defeated by eventual silver medallist Ioan Dzitac (ROU) in the -66kg category. In the -73kg category, Ben Moore was defeated in his opening round contest to gold medallist Robert Boldis (ROU).
Madeleine Young (-70kg) was defeated in her opening round contest to Liv Johnsson (SWE).
Amelia Shave competed in the -48kg Round Robin but failed to register a victory.
Also representing British Judo on the mat was Archi Shrimpton.
