National Kata Course : 23 and 24 November 2024
Venue: Army School of Physical Training, Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, Prince’s Avenue, Aldershot, Hampshire. GU11 2LB
Tutor: Yoshihiko Iura Kodokan 8th dan – supported by members of the BJA Kata Group as required
Date: Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24 September 2024
Time: 10:00 – 16:00 both days – booking-in 09:30; Examinations from 16:30 onwards
Cost: £30 (one day) or £50 for both days (Saturday and Sunday)
Those judoka holding an attendance certificate from a previously completed British Judo course in Koshiki-no-kata or Kime-no-kata will have the opportunity to be continuously assessed for a BJA Level 1 certificate in that particular kata. Higher level certificates will be subject to examination. Only holders of Level 1 may be examined for Level 2, and only holders of Level 2 may be examined for Level 3. Only Tori will qualify for a certificate. The Kata examinations and assessments will be free of charge, however for successful candidates there will be a charge of £10 to cover the cost of issuing a Kata Certificate
This 2-day kata course will cover all aspects of Koshiki-no-kata on the Saturday, and all aspects of Kime-no-kata on the Sunday. Participants will be tutored in these kata by Yoshihiko Iura-sensei, Kodokan 8th Dan – an internationally recognised kata expert.
An attendance certificate from either day’s course satisfies the requirements for Section 9 of the BJA Technical Dan Grade syllabus.
Those judoka not wishing to take any examinations/assessments are still very welcome to attend the course.
Please wear a White Judogi only – strictly no other colour or reversible judogi to be worn. Participants holding a grade of 6th Dan or above are requested to wear a black belt
Special Note: All military personnel serving in the Armed Forces will be able to attend for free. Military judoka must still book on the course with an administration fee of £5 per day to cover attendance certificates and other resources such as handouts. This is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education Course
