Revealing the Secrets of Judo – to Unite the Movement British Judo Olympic and Paralympic Training centre – Walsall – Wednesday 8th May 2024
May 8, 2024
This day will be an opportunity to share with partners the offer of judo as an alternative physical activity to the nation that will increase confidence, improve behaviour, offer techniques for safer falling and strengthen our ability to work together.
Judo was created by its founder Jigaro kano as an education system, later it was recognised as a sport. It is based on principles of mutual benefit and maximum efficiency, offering foundation movement patterns under the guidance of a strong moral code and etiquette.
We will take the opportunity to share the secrets- the benefits, of judo, beyond the activity, and the application of these benefits to maximise the impact of staying active through judo; ‘Breakfalls’ – the very first lesson of judo to ensure safer falling; Respect, gratitude and discipline incorporated in to the structure of technique and sessions; controlled grappling nature for confidence in personal contacts; understanding balance (kuzushi) to enhance physical literacy; jita kyoei- working with another person for mutual benefit: and so much more.
We will take you on a journey through the day to see how you may utilise judo in your communities.
Agenda (including Tour opportunity) will provided nearer to the date, please complete the form below to attend.
