Female Fighters Festival: A great success!

Saturday saw the return of the Female Fighters Festival. Staged at the British Judo National Training Centre in Walsall the festival welcomed over 50 female judoka of all ages and abilities.

In addition to practical sessions led by former and current international judoka there were opportunities for attendees to learn more about nutrition and the wider benefits of judo.

There was also a practical demonstration from Samantha Lewis, a judo coach, breast cancer survivor and beauty pageant winner, on breast health and the importance of performing regular checks.

Sami Smithson, British Judo Head of Inclusion, Safeguarding and Wellbeing, and event leader said:

“It was such an amazing day celebrating our female fighters. Thank you to all who supported the festival, it was fantastic to see so many women and girls of all ages and abilities creating new friendships whilst learning new skills along the way.”

The Female Fighters Festival is a way of celebrating all that is great within our female membership. From grassroots to elite level, our judoka came together to inspire the next generation of female fighters.
