Former European champion and Olympian to lead masterclass at Whitehaven Judo Club

Former European champion and Olympian Rowena Birch will stage a masterclass at Whitehaven Judo Club on Friday 29 June.
The British Judo Board of Director and Chair of the Masters Commission will take the session as a celebration of the London 2012 Olympics and local school children have been invited to take part.
The Clubmark bronze outfit are heavily involved in the local community and have established strong links with schools through British Judo’s School2Dojo programme which has over 500 links across the country.
Club official Janice Knight said: “Our Olympic celebratory event the is free for our judoka and local school children with Rowena Birch kindly agreeing to give up her free time to visit the club.
“We hope the session will help us promote the sport in the area and there’ll be special gifts for every child who takes part.”

Whitehaven Judo Club train at Marchon Sports & Social Club, Coach Road, Whitehaven, CA28 7TE. On a Tuesday juniors train at 18:30-20:00 with seniors following from 20:00 – 22:00.
