Four medals for British judoka at the Junior European Cup in La Coruna
British judoka once again excelled on the Junior European Cup stage as they emerged from a talented field of 199 judoka to clinch four medals in La Coruna.
SKK Judo Club’s Amy Livesey, 18, took -70kg silver with two wins en route to a final where she narrowly lost out by a yuko to Spain’s Gonzalez Grandall Sara.
Amy’s younger sister Bekky, 16, won three of her four fights, all by way of ippon, to take bronze in the -63kg category.
Fellow SKK starlets and sisters, Jodie, 17, and Melissa Myers, 19, were in good form as the former registered three victories to clinch +78kg silver while the latter took seventh in the -57kg category with one win from three contests.
Wales’ Connor Ireland, 17, shone as he won four fights by ippon to seal an -66kg final berth where he was edged out by a yuko against Slovakian Luka Kuralt.
Compatriot Mason Jones, 17, finished in ninth-place in the same category while England’s Liam Ashton-Farr, 18, achieved the same result in the -73kg category.
