GB Futures Camp set for third year

The GB Futures Camp returns for its third year with a group of GB judoka and coaches heading to Tokyo, Japan from 17 – 27 October 2018.

A total of 12 GB judoka have been identified to attend the camp which will see them train at different locations across Tokyo.

The athletes will train at the Kodokan, Sho Toku High School, Teikyo High School (Female judoka), Seisoku High School (Male judoka), Tokai University and Tokai High School (Male judoka).

Throughout the GB Futures Camp the GB judoka will have the opportunity to work on the fundamentals and technical aspects of their judo.

Sessions at the Kodokan will focus on this with the randori sessions at the High Schools and University giving them a chance to put those technical learnings into practice.

The GB Futures Camp is a key part of the GB Cadet Strategy and is aligned to the Technical Development Framework. This focuses on the helping the athletes to fight with effective technique which they can then transfer into Senior competition.

Previous GB Futures judoka have gone on to achieve success at Cadet, Junior and Senior international level including at European Opens, European Youth Olympic Festival, Thuringia International Cup and Junior European Cups.

As with previous Futures Camps, the trip also acts as an opportunity to develop club coaches that work with and have are developing athletes coming through the Home Nations pathways.
