GB judoka claim 5 medals at European Veteran Championships

Last weekend saw the city of Podcetrtek, Slovenia stage the European Veteran Championships.

GB judoka have enjoyed great success on the European stage over the years and that tradition continued as the team bagged four individual medals and a team silver.

Colin Francis (Peterlee Judo Club / Royal Marines Judo) is no stranger to the podium having won two World Veteran Championship silver medals in his career. The M2 -60kg judoka claimed silver to match his European Veteran Championship result from 2018.

Akroman Ozdoev (East Yorkshire udo Academy) marked his European Veteran Championship debut with a silver medal in the M2 -73kg category.

Chris Andrews (Dowty Judo Club), competing at his second European Veteran Championships, claimed silver in the M5 -73kg category.

Another judoka who was making their European Veteran Championship debut was Laura Plumridge (High Wycombe Judo Centre). Plumridge claimed bronze in the F1 -70kg category.

Plumridge then teamed up with Caroline Brayson (Pudsey Judo Club), Danielle Batt (Windsor Judo Club)and Ludmila Svaton (CZE) to take silver in the F30 team event under the watchful eye of Daniel Cuadrado (High Wycombe Judo Centre) who was in the coaching chair.

The men’s M30 team made up of Francis, Kyle Perry (Budokwai), Enda Hackett (Budokwai/IRL) and Kenneth Harris (Royal Navy Judo) did not place.
