JOINT STATEMENT: BRITISH JUDO ASSOCIATION & NORTH WEST AREA 30 June 2020
June 30, 2020
British Judo and the North West Area Committee have been made aware of a club in the North West area that recently held a (non-judo) training session in their venue.
This is strictly not allowed in relation to the Government’s advice and the Association does not condone any behaviour which breaks these regulations.
While the club has accepted responsibility for running the session, we are appealing for clubs NOT to hold any sessions indoor until further advice is released.
We have now discussed the matter with the club and the Area, and the club have apologised for their error.
In addition to the cleaning and sanitisation of the venue throughout the lockdown period, they have since attended the recent BJA Webinar detailing how a “Safe Return to Judo” will look both on and off the mat and have agreed not to run any further indoor sessions until advised by the Association.
