Judoka set for Junior World Championships

The Junior World Championships get underway tomorrow as the Portuguese city of Odivelas plays host to the prestigious championships.

Six GB judoka have been selected to compete with three male and three female fighters representing GB Judo.

Wednesday 4th October | Preliminary Rounds 9:00 | Final Block 16:00

Competing in the -52kg category, Charlotte Jenman (Tonbridge JC; Ben Urban) is joined by Maddy Birri (Ealing JC; Jo Crowley).

Jenman has an opening-round contest against Laura Gomez-Antona (ESP) whilst Birri has an opening-round bye and will face Oliwia Kutyla (POL) in the second round.

Lewis Fryer (Rush Judo; Laurie Rush) will compete in the -60kg category. Fryer has been drawn against Emile Merdin (BEL) in the opening round.

Thursday 5th October | Preliminary Rounds 10:00 | Final Block 16:00

Luke Davies (Ealing JC; Jo Crowley) enters as 7th seed in the -73kg category and following an opening-round bye, will face the winner of the round one contest between David Perdomo (VEN) and Tomas Gomes (POR).

Saturday 7th October | Preliminary Rounds 11:00 | Final Block 16:00

Competing in the -78kg category, Anya Hassan (Middlesbrough JC; Garth Illingworth) has been drawn against Berber Ludema (NED) in the opening round.

Daniel Ede (Westcroft JC; Andrew Ede) competes in the +100kg category and will face 7th seed Yash Ghangas (IND) in the opening round.
