Junior British Championships in Sheffield are a huge success

The country’s best athletes gathered at Sheffield Hallam’s English Institute of Sport today (Saturday 13 December) and battled it out for the prestigious title of British champion.

The day was packed full of fierce competition and some excellent displays of judo were demonstrated in the pursuit of gold. With the medals came the opportunity for many to win a place on the Great Britain Junior squad.

It was an exciting day as the players progressed through the pool on pool system. In the end each category was crowned with a champion and three additional medallists.

Coach Jamie Johnson said: “I am really pleased with the performances today. There has been some great judo all round.  I am looking forward to seeing the juniors push on to senior level tomorrow.”

Congratulations to all of our medallists and good look to those returning to the EIS tomorrow.
