October 01, 2021
Competitive Judo is fought in weight divisions and that can bring challenges to athletes trying to make their weight. The Child Protection in Sport Unit, part of the NSPCC, have created a series of Podcasts looking at Body Image, Weight Management and Disordered Eating in Sport.
In this five part mini series, CPSU talk with Dr Carolyn Plateau, Senior Lecturer in Psychology, Loughborough University and former 800 metre international athlete about disordered eating and eating disorders in sport.
They discuss the importance of creating a positive culture around food, nutrition, weight and shape for young athletes. It is everybody’s responsibility to create a safer sporting environment where athletes voices are heard.
