March 08, 2016
Todmorden Judo Club’s Sean Nuttall has received his Kata Judging Award for Katame no Kata at the Kata Judges Seminar and Examination in Brussels.
5th Dan Sean is already a British Judo National Kata Judge and a member of the British Judo National Kata Commission.
Under the guidance of Eddie Awford, Chair of the National Kata Commission, Sean has been concentrating his efforts in Kata Judge training over the past four years. This training paid off in the Belgian capital where Sean scored 90% in his examination.
Sean is now accredited in six kata and is now qualified to judge Ju no Kata and Katame no Kata at EJU level, and Nage no Kata and Kodokan Goshin Jutsu at both EJU and IJF level.
“I’d like to send a big thank you to the BJA Kata Commission, Colin McIver at British Judo and also the GB Kata team past and present for all of their help and support. I’d also like to thank the North West Area who’ve helped me with funding along the way”, said Sean.
“For me within the next two years I’d like to get my EJU license in Kime no Kata and possibly this year take my Ju no Kate in IJF Kata”.
