October Safeguarding Workshops
October 13, 2022
At British Judo we want to continue to highlight the ways you can keep your child safe in sport, this might be through attending workshops or completing online safeguarding training.
This month we have two safeguarding workshops taking place at the National Olympic and Paralympic Training Centre.
UK Coaching – Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop: Sunday 23rd October
The interactive workshop provides you with the knowledge and ability to:
- identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching
- explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise their potential impact on your response
- recognise and respond to possible signs of child abuse
- take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.
The workshop has been developed in partnership with the NSPCC and CPSU and includes scenarios giving you the opportunity to learn through discussion. You will have the opportunity to explore the consequences of decisions in a safe and supportive environment, helping to increase your confidence and understanding in this area.

NSPCC – Time to Listen workshop (Club Welfare Officers): Sunday 23rd October
This workshop is designed for Club Welfare Officers, it is highly recommended that attendees complete UK Coaching’s Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop first.
Are you new to the Welfare Officer role or has it been three years since you last attended a Time to Listen workshop?
The 3-hour workshop covers the following and learners will be able to:
- Describe how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child centred environment.
- Explain how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment.
- Apply learning to case studies including sharing good safeguarding practice.
