Statement from Loretta Doyle following British Judo Elections

British Judo Association Chairman Elections 2012

Dear all fellow BJA members

I would like to congratulate Kerrith Brown on his successful campaign in becoming the next Chairman of the BJA for the next four years.

Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has shown their support for me; whether it is through a vote in my favour, or just helpful honest advice and opinions you have given me throughout this long period of canvassing. I have greatly enjoyed the debates, and your company as well as being given the opportunity to find out more about what is important to the general BJA membership. I have learnt a lot.

Whilst I am obviously disappointed not have been voted in to this position, I still very sincerely wish Kerrith success throughout his term as BJA Chair. I also recognise that Kerrith is only one man, and without your support he will not be able to make his term as beneficial as it should be for the many clubs and individuals within the membership.

I state this with a slight element of disappointment as statistics given to me indicate only 43% of all eligible clubs actually voted in this year’s election. We need to change this going forward, and I urge all clubs and members to take a much more active role in the future of our association.

I too intend not to be phased by my position in this year’s voting, and will always remain positive and very active within the association, at club and International level, in offering my support to Kerrith and the BJA board in the development of a sustainable future for all in UK judo.

I hope all of you, regardless who you have voted for, can join me in wishing the BJA chair and board, a bright and prosperous four years, and I look forward to seeing you all very soon at your clubs,  judo events, and particularly during the support of our athletes in the forthcoming 2014 Commonwealth games.

Yours with sincerity

Loretta
