Success for Guernsey Judo Club
March 26, 2012
Guernsey Judo Club was invited to send a squad to the Commonwealth Judo Association Championships, which are held biannually, and this year Welsh Judo were the hosts.
Guernsey is one of the smallest members of the British Commonwealth with a population of just over 60,000.
The only club in Guernsey boasts a membership of 50 juniors and a few stalwart senior judoka who assist with coaching.
The photograph shows, from left to right Remi Dorey at Under 50 kilos and Louis Plevin Under 81 kilos, proudly showing the Bronze Medals they brought home in the Cadets Section at the Cardiff event.
Head Coach Mitch Agnelli said: “For a small club on a small island such as Guernsey, to bring home one medal from such a high profile event would be a marvellous achievement, but to bring home two is magnificent and reflects well not just on the two boys but on the club as a whole.”
Anyone thinking of a club trip away (juniors mainly) is invited to contact Mitch on email at mitch.agnelli@cwgsy.net.
